Panama City Beach Fishing Report 5-17-2018

This past weekend was a bit of a mess for surf and pier fishing with all of the seagrass, but reports are saying that it has cleared up for the most part.
The lack of bait has slowed inshore, nearshore, and pier bite quite a bit, however some nice sized Kings have been spotted along with some small Mahi.
Amberjacks have really shown up offshore as the end of the season nears.
Hopefully, the bait comes back, and the grass stays away!

Inshore:
A lot of Trout and Redfish with a few Bluefish here and there. Catch Trout and Redfish with live shrimp on a poppin cork, Paddle tails with a Jighead, and Mirro Lures. Look for Trout in grassy flats and shallow waters.
Ladyfish and Hardtails have moved in with a few reports of Flounder. Very little Pinfish and other bait. The bite has been a bit slow, recently.

Nearshore and Pier:
Again, very little bait around. The Kings and Spanish are still biting! A couple of very small Mahi spotted but not many.

Surf:
Pompano has been running late in the day or early morning. There are plenty of Sandfleas to use as bait. Whiting has shown up along with Ladyfish and Bluefish. You can find some nice sized Redfish after dark. Catch Pompano and Bluefish using a double pompano rig with Fishbites and frozen shrimp. Put different color Fishbites strips on each hook so you can see what color they're biting!

Offshore:
A bunch of Vermillion and Amberjacks. Mahi is being caught off weedlines. Kings are running troll with dusters, stretch lures, and Cigar Minnows. A couple of nice sized Blackfin Tuna have been caught.
